Course overview

The aim of the course is to provide tuition in both academic and professional subjects to enable candidates to sit the MCA written examinations and oral examination necessary for Second Class Certificate of Competency achievement. Please note Mathematics and Drawing will not be taught but can be taken as Distance Learning units. Applied Heat, Applied Mechanics, Electrotechnology and Naval Architecture are taught at First Class level. This gives the candidate the choice to sit the First Class examinations and therefore be exempt from the Second Class examinations. However the candidate still has the option to sit Second Class examinations if so desired. (Please refer to MCA First Class Engineer course overview for details).

As per Letter of Initial Assessment and Notice of Eligibility as issued by MCA. An STCW 95 EOOW Certificate of Competency and 18 months sea time to be eligible to sit EK’s and orals.
