Course overview

Part A of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code requires Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO) to have knowledge and have received training, taking into account the guidance given in Part B of the Code. This course is intended for training personnel being entrusted with the role of Port Facility Security Officer, (PFSO). It is a role that is becoming more challenging year by year as the threat of terrorism, drug and people trafficking, smuggling and criminal activities such as cargo theft continue to increase.

There are no specific pre-requisites for PFSO training but those undergoing training will have sufficient knowledge and practical experience of Port Facility operations to enable them to achieve the objectives of the training and undertake the duties and responsibilities of Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO)
