Course overview
This course covers the use of a VHF Radio equipped with Digital Selective Calling (DSC). This replaces the previous VHF Radio Operators Certificate and is part of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). All VHF Radio users need to obtain this certificate to operate their radios safely and legally.

Operation of Marine VHF/DSC equipment
Basic Radio Language
Making calls to other stations
Sending a Distress Message
Routine Alerts and other calls
Knowledge of Phonetic Alphabets
Use of different VHF Channels
