Let Me Be Me Campaign
Thursday 28 January 2010
In order to promote equality, facilitate engagement with staff and learners, and promote National Anti-Bullying week, the Students' Association held a Let Me Be Me week beginning 16 November 2009.
Activities during the week included:
- Drama productions highlighting Equality, Bullying and Safety presented by GCNS HNC Drama Group led by Stephen Cafferty.
- An Equalities competition was launched inviting learners to submit entries under the banner of Celebrating Diversity.
- A questionnaire was distributed asking staff to give feedback on equalities issues, the result of which will be published shortly.
- A Feedback Wall and suggestion box was set up to allow staff and learners to share experiences and give ideas/suggestions about ways to make the College more inclusive.
- Learners from the Transition course filmed events during the week which will result in a DVD highlighting the activities. This will be available for all to see soon.
Useful feedback was received and information gained will be used in the review of our policies and the creation of our new Single Equality Scheme. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff and learners who helped promote our commitment to equality of opportunity.
