Community On The Bounty!!

Marine Engineering Cadets, in small class groups, recently embarked on week-long residential sailing voyages with the Ocean Youth Trust Scotland.

To recognise the achievement of the Cadets, a presentation ceremony took place at Glasgow College of Nautical Studies on Wednesday 24th March in the Faculty of Engineering Building. Mr Peter Leitch, Assistant Principal, presented certificates of achievement to those who successfully completed the residential voyages. Peter also presented trophies to Mathew MacLeod, Donald MacInnes, James MacRae, Gareth Traylor- Murray, Robert Forrest and Daniel Heredia- Crampsey all of whom were nominated by the individual boat skippers as being 'Cadet of the Week'.

Images of Presentation CeremonyThe week-long event begins at the start of the academic year and is now an established part of the curriculum. Ian Fraser, Head of the School of Marine Engineering said “The sailing voyages encourage the Cadets to develop a host of attributes but in particular, team working, promoting self confidence, respecting others, developing leadership skills and accepting responsibility for their own actions and decisions.”
